Orange Tree Samples – Evolution Rubber Bridge 1.3.0 Full + Update

Since the late 2010s, rubber bridge guitars have become widespread in indie rock and have also made a significant appearance in pop music. While people have used various approaches to muting guitars throughout history, the idea of using a rubber bridge originated with Ruben Cox, a luthier and owner of Old Style Guitar Shop in Los Angeles, California. His unique solution – a rubber bridge – subtly dampens the guitar’s sustain, giving notes a punchy attack with a fast yet clean decay.

Because of the naturally quiet volume of these guitars, which are typically small parlor guitars, a powerful pickup is typically installed for amplification. The magical sound of a rubber bridge guitar is partly due to the combination of the instrument’s clean, clear acoustic tone and the rich, powerful signal of the pickup.

The Evolution Rubber Bridge was recorded using a nearly century-old parlor guitar, converted to a rubber bridge and equipped with a classic Tokyo-style gold leaf pickup. The pickup and stereo microphone signals were recorded separately, allowing you to combine the warm, energetic sound of the pickup with the crisp, clear microphone signal. The Evolution Rubber Bridge was recorded with the guitar tuned a whole tone below standard tuning, giving it a deeper tone and a naturally playable low end.

We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most respected recording studios. Guy Randle, owner and engineer of Rosewood Recording Company, used analog audio equipment to skillfully shape and highlight the guitar’s rich tonal qualities. The Evolution Rubber Bridge includes both the recorded signal and the enhanced signal.

Based on our Evolution engine, the Evolution Rubber Bridge offers a wealth of features, including an innovative strumming pattern editor, automatic chord detection, and a comprehensive set of built-in effects for adding the finishing touches to your guitar sound. If you’ve used any of our guitar or bass libraries using the Evolution engine, its interface and workflow will be very familiar.

The library includes numerous ready-made factory presets for a variety of guitar tones. Some presets focus on the acoustic component of the guitar, delivering a clean, pristine sound, while others take advantage of the electric guitar by routing the pickup signal through a guitar cabinet, sometimes with the addition of spring reverb or even distortion.
