Orange Tree Samples – Evolution Baritone Electric 1.3.0
The sound of a baritone guitar cannot be achieved simply by tuning a standard guitar a perfect fourth lower. Loose string tension ultimately results in a thin sound and a lack of sustain, not to mention problematic tuning drift, when notes start abruptly and decay as they fade.
Baritone guitars solve this problem with a longer scale length, which not only solves the tuning issue but also provides richer sustain and a fuller sound.
In addition to this extra-long scale, the guitar we recorded for the Evolution Baritone Electric was equipped with lipstick pickups—a unique type of single-coil coil known for its articulate, transparent tone. Their naturally captured midrange makes lipstick pickups the perfect complement to baritone guitars, reducing muddy sound while delivering clear bass and crisp highs. We recorded the bridge and neck pickups as separate signals that can be blended to create a wide range of tones, from the classic ringing sound of the bridge pickup to the warm, woody sound of the neck pickup.
We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most respected recording studios. Guy Randle, owner and engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, used analog audio equipment to expertly shape and highlight the rich tonal qualities of the baritone guitar. The Evolution Baritone Electric includes both a recorded signal and an enhanced signal that can be mixed to your liking.
Based on our Evolution engine, the Evolution Baritone Electric offers a wealth of customization options: a flexible mapping system, chord and strumming patterns, and a comprehensive collection of built-in effects for creating ready-to-mix baritone guitar tones.
The library includes numerous ready-to-use factory presets for a variety of classic and modern baritone guitar tones, from the classic combination of tremolo and splashy spring reverb to dreamy, ambient soundscapes. Not to mention the legendary Nashville “tick-tock” sound—a double bass layered on a palm-muted baritone guitar (or Bass VI).
