HandHeldSound – Mad RockScore

MAD – RockScore expands the MAD collection with a library designed for easy combination with orchestral and hybrid scores. We recorded three iconic drum kits in a large recording room and developed a unique set of features for maximum control over tonal balance and ambience.

Now you can completely control how the direct sound interacts with the room, allowing the drums to seamlessly fit into any arrangement. With such complete control over the signal flow, you can radically alter the sound without sacrificing the raw, unprocessed character of the drums.

Iconic and Vintage Rock Drum Kits

We’ve selected vintage and sought-after drums and antique cymbals.
These kits deliver a powerful sound with high sustain that redefines what “louder than life” means!

Advanced Microphone Mixing

Recording in a large recording room was just the beginning.
We’ve developed an advanced mixing engine that goes beyond traditional signal flow, providing complete control over microphone leakage.
The size and strength of the room’s sound can be easily adjusted to suit
any ensemble size.

Dynamic Expression

MAD RockScore boasts a wide dynamic range, preserving all the nuances characteristic of percussion instruments. This allows you to customize velocity curves to suit your playing style and create crescendos/diminuendos in real time with the new velocity shift feature.

A New Level of Playability

The drums feature expanded articulation, including extensive samples for both left and right hands. Our symmetrical MIDI note map simplifies playing and allows you to quickly create realistic patterns.
Our renowned hi-hat engine, velocity-shaping tools, legato snare grace notes, and multi-sampled cymbal chokes give you instant access to every nuance.

Flexibility in any production :

MAD RockScore provides complete control over the signal flow, making it ideal for non-orchestral genres.

With full control over room tone and mic bleed, you control the original sound and tonal balance of your arrangement.

A dedicated groove engine

includes over 500 grooves, organized into core patterns and corresponding alternate and fill patterns. All grooves can be loaded into your DAW as two-bar MIDI clips.

Instruments:

Imagine a classic drum sound, enveloping the orchestra and filling the score
with impact and a dense stereo image…

Each of the three kits has a similar signal path, yet each has a unique sonic signature. The spot mic channels are expanded by a comprehensive mic-overlay matrix and the stereo mic perspectives of the Room and Outriggers.

The result is a dynamic drum sound suitable for scores of any size!

Features and Technologies:

Mad RockScore is designed to be an effective complement to orchestral arrangements and epic hybrid soundtracks.

Recording sessions took place in a large recording room using a sophisticated microphone array that combines tight focus with spatial and room reflections. The library supports an open mixing architecture, giving you the ability to shape each kit with complete control over mic mixing, advanced mic lift control, and two unique stage recording perspectives.

Combining this approach with our passion for wide dynamic range and enhanced articulation, these drums acquire unique expressiveness and bring any arrangement to life.

Luxurious sound for stage performance.

Complete control over room acoustics .

Experience stunning cinematic sound with the finest detail and absolute control.

Expanding on the full complement of spot mics and the stereo overhead configuration, we’ve added two additional perspectives: Stereo Room and Stereo Outriggers. They add width and space to the drums, making them ideal for incorporating into a stage mix.

Every aspect of the room’s acoustics can be tailored with complete control over the signal flow and a customizable mic-height matrix.

Extensive playability.

Simplicity and responsiveness .

As with our other libraries, we focused on capturing an ultra-wide dynamic range, virtually noise-free samples, and precise detail across all dynamic layers.

The library includes four alternate round-robin variations and up to 14 dynamic layers with separate left- and right-hand samples for snare, toms, and hi-hat.

Our renowned hi-hat engine offers extensive articulations, including six degrees of modulation from closed to open. Automatic stomp and variable attack provide incredibly realistic hi-hat sound.

We’ve also customized voice stacking to simulate the natural resonance that occurs after repeated hits without limiting your dynamic range!

Finally, we used release samples and articulation crossfading for various cymbal articulations to emphasize the realism of chokes, rolls, and transitions between different hi-hat articulations.

Finally, our extensive user script enhances performance while maintaining responsiveness and ease of use.

Superb mixing.

From intimate to BIG .

The mixer is the most important element of the interface.

Moving even further from traditional mixing, we developed a mixer engine that offers unconventional control over the signal flow.

Room and Outriggers mic projections can function as auxiliary returns—now you can add any combination of the actual room acoustic field to specific Spot channels!

We’ve created a comprehensive mic leakage matrix.
This often-overlooked concept allows you to combine signals in various ways and add variety and nuance to the raw drum sound.

Each mixer channel can be connected to your DAW for independent mixing.

Groovy.

Main Patterns, Alternates, and Fills.

The Groove engine allows you to quickly audition rhythmic ideas and use them in your DAW as basic elements or as is. MAD RockScore contains over 500 rock and cinematic grooves in the Core style. Each main groove includes 5 alternate patterns and 5 fills.

Alternates and fills range from subtle to extreme, while maintaining the context of the corresponding main grooves. Grooves are not quantized to preserve the drummer’s original feel, and can be dragged into your DAW as standard MIDI clips.
